Revelation #6--I Need Sunshine

I grew up in upstate New York, where there were probably 45 days of sunshine all year. The rest were clouded up with some kind of weather or other. Mostly rain or snow. While that led to summer greenness, it also made me long for somewhere else to be where warmth could seep in and sunshine would make me tip my face toward it on a daily basis.

In college, Joni Mitchell's song, "California" would play on an endless track on my stereo. I guess it was my soul speaking to me. "Californ-i-a...Ohhhh, California I'm comin' home." I knew I had to get there somehow.

I moved here when I turned 26 through a lucky twist of fate. That was many years ago. I never looked back. Sure, California has its problems. Traffic, smog, a busted economy. Oh, and earthquakes.

But, hey.

You can't beat the sunshine. It makes me happy.

"you can't beat the sunshine" - I'll drink to that!! While I can't say that we don't have enough sunshine here - I do think that around six months of cold and wet are more that I want. I'm still dreaming of going south - maybe not California; Italy would be a lovely option, though!

We get a lot of sunshine up here in the Great White North, too. Of course, it's winter sunshine, but still . . . .

Stregata, Oh, Italy! Now there's a place I could be for a while. And I bet it is cold where you are right now. Still, I'd love to see it someday. :p)

Claire--Yes, I think I was meant to be here. Was I born in the wrong place?? It's weird how that works, isn't it? Hmm...Something for another post...

Snap-- I think that was the late, great John Denver. Loved his songs. They made so many people happy. Hugs!

Debra-- there's nothing more beautiful than sunshine sparkling off the snow. I was in Vermont last winter and it was positively prismatic! Gorgeous!

Bonnie--It's been good to know that I intersected my destiny there and it's also good to stay open to change. You never know what tomorrow will bring...But wherever it goes, there must be sunshine. I don't see a rainforest in my future. :p)

Renee--You're so right about that. Thank God for that. :p) Hope it's shining right now where you are. hugs!

Sarah--I totally understand about Arizona. Hugs!

OK so I'm still in Arizona and summer is still my favorite time of the year. Now that the cold is starting creep in I'm whining and whimpering like a lost dog. I want my long days and shorts weather back! California is more moderate for sure, but if you want sunshine, we've got it here baby.

My whole world turns right side up when the sun shines. I think that is one of the main reasons...lets put it the top reason...that I miss living in Florida. Sun almost every day! Rejuvenates the soul!
